New Event! Family Craft & Crêpe Day – March 2
Attention families throughout Tampa Bay – Saturday March 2nd from 10-noon, FASTB will be hosting our first-ever Family Craft and Crêpe Day! People will ask, “Isn’t it risky to combine something very fun with something really tasty?” Maybe, but our News de Nous research team has determined it is a risk worth taking.
We’re happy to partner with Krepelicious and their food truck will be on hand to make crêpes of your preference that you can purchase and enjoy in our shaded picnic area. Our playground will also be open to all and if anyone wants to peek inside the school to look around, we can make that happen too!
You don’t need to know French to come to this event – but don’t be surprised if you pick up a little while you’re here! Please RSVP to admission@fastb.org or on our Facebook event page so we can make sure the Krepelicious folks bring enough yumminess. See you March 2nd!

Thank you to all who attended our Open House last Thursday! We enjoyed meeting all of our first-time visitors and we hope to see you all again soon! Special thanks to our musical entertainment provided by Suzuki Strings: Jennifer Diedrich’s two violin students, Cole and Briana did an outstanding job (more on them below).
For those who could not attend, hopefully you can make it to our March 2nd event and you can always set up a private tour by calling the school at (727) 800-2159. Merci!

Final preparations for our first Suzuki Violin performance for parents and families this Friday at 2! Jennifer’s students are working hard and will be ready to perform a piece, demonstrate proper positioning and share their knowledge of their instrument. Can’t wait to see what they’ve learned!
Jennifer will open another 6-week group session beginning next week – please contact her with your plans moving forward.
Peek into the future: last week, Jennifer’s private studio students performed very well with the Pinellas County Schools All-County Orchestra. Congratulations to the whole Suzuki Strings group!

Elementary Class – Hearts, Butterflies, Ladybugs and Picasso
Claire’s elementary class had a busy week – hard to know where to begin! The caterpillar above tried to get away but he was restored to his proper position to join his fellow butterflies-to-be, getting ready for their breakout moment (below). We are still waiting… Thank you to Wendy Risk for providing the plant and the opportunity to witness the transformation!

With nature’s drama looming on the shelf, students turned their attention to two upcoming Thursday events: Valentine’s Day tomorrow, and our 100 Days Celebration next Thursday (marking our 100th day of school this year!). With lots of hearts roaming about for V-Day, Claire decided to combine the two celebrations, so students are all chipping in to create 100 hearts with their 100 favorite French words – vocabulary & math mixed with a little fun!
Hearts also found their way into Art this week (above) with students creating coccinelles (ladybugs) and they also studied a piece from Picasso (below) called “Les Mains aux Fleurs” (Hands with Flowers). Claire explained that “the meaning is to offer a gift to someone we love. Perfect for Valentines Day!”

Mr. Alex introduced a new element to his weekly Music & Me sessions and the excitement could be felt in Fort Lauderdale. The parachute was a big hit – our News de Nous analysts believe that there will be parachute requests in future sessions.
Event Notice: Our friends at Music & Me have an upcoming event at Cage Brewery called Sip N Sing, an old style family sing-a-long, Sunday February 24th at 5pm and would love to have our FASTB extended family join them! To find out more, you can visit their Facebook event page – hope to see you there!
