One Week In – Thumbs Up!
Bonjour! Among the top stories in News de Nous this week:
We have hit the one week mark and our busy elementary class is learning a lot and is involved in a lot of fun activities; we had great turnout for our Open House last Saturday morning and we have a weekday evening version with a musical twist coming up; and Founder Willy LeBihan was talking FASTB at a big bash in Boston. On to the details…

|
Stepping into the elementary classroom, our teacher, Claire, opens a typical day by going through the morning routine (rituel du matin), which includes greetings, each student’s responsibility in that day’s morning activity and lots of student participation in calendar, time and weather identification – all en francais.
|
|
Math is also incorporated into this time, during which familiar concepts are utilized to help students naturally build vocabulary with every day words.
There is also plenty of time in the day for writing in French, reading and, of course, recess and play. Art is a big part of the afternoons as the children tap into their creativity as you can see below – our big art boards are starting to fill up!
A great week indeed – what a wonderful group of students we have!

Open House Next Week – Tours et Musique
|
|
Thank you to all who attended our Open House last Saturday – it was great to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones! We know that some of you could not make it that day so we are hosting a special evening Open Housenext Tuesday, September 25th from 6-8pm. We are particularly excited because our Suzuki music instructor, Jennifer Diedrich, will be there to discuss the violin and piano lessons she will be teaching this year (starting soon!). As a special treat, Jennifer will bring students from her private Suzuki studio, who will perform a couple pieces.
As always, you will have an opportunity to meet teachers, tour the building, ask questions and enjoy some light refreshments and live music so feel free to bring the whole family. Please RSVP by replying to this email – we hope to see you there!!

On Saturday, Willy LeBihan, Co-Founder of The French American School of Tampa Bay, met with three French senators in Boston: Mrs. Claudine Lepage, Mr. Jean-Yves Leconte and Mrs. Hèléne Conway-Mouret.

Mrs. Hèléne Conway-Mouray http://www.helene-conway.com served as Minister for French Expatriates in President François Holland’s Cabinet from 2012 to 2014 and has been a member of the Senate of France since 2011, representing French citizens living abroad.

During the reception, which was held at the residence of the Consul General of France, Willy officially announced the recent opening of FASTB and welcomed the three members of the French Senate to visit the school!
Senators Lepage and Conway-Mouret have visited many French schools around the world and were very pleased by the opening of our school on the west coast of Florida, the only school of its kind between Atlanta and Miami.
