Emilie Duprat

Willy LeBihan

Emilie Duprat was born in the Bordeaux region of southwest France. Emilie has always been passionate about social sciences, foreign languages, and cultures and has pursued her education in history.  After obtaining her Scientific Baccalaureate, Emilie studied history and English at the University of Bordeaux, Michel de Montaigne, where she developed a great interest in teaching and early childhood. As a result, Emilie decided to become an elementary school teacher and became a Certified Teacher for the French Ministry of Education.

Throughout her teaching career, Emilie has taught every grade level from the Petite Section (3 years old Early Childhood) to CM2 (Fifth grade). For several years in France, she taught children in disadvantaged environments and with special needs (children in foster homes, severely disabled children, and orphans). In addition, Emilie developed the skills to teach French to non-French speakers who recently arrived in France as immigrants, providing her with the experience to adapt to all types of students. She is particularly interested in pedagogies emphasizing individuality and each child’s individual needs while promoting cooperation between students and autonomy (Freinet, Montessori). Emilie chose to teach Early Childhood Education at FASTB because of her love for guiding and teaching the little ones.

Having never forgotten her dream and passion for foreign cultures, it was only a matter of time before Emilie set her sights on new horizons beyond France to come and teach in the United States. First, she taught at a French immersion school in Minnetonka, Minnesota. She will now continue this extraordinary adventure by integrating the French American School of Tampa Bay team. The school is thrilled to welcome Emilie Duprat to our teaching faculty in the fall of 2022.

Emilie enjoys sports, music, and reading books during her time off. Whenever possible, she travels to observe new landscapes and meet new people.
